Science Statement of Intent

At Holymead Primary School, the science curriculum is designed to provide children with the foundations in scientific knowledge and enquiry / investigation skills from the EYFS to KS2. We champion the importance of science in every aspect of everyday life and, as one of the core subjects taught in Primary School, give the learning of science the prominence it requires. The main goal is to provide children with opportunities to increase their scientific knowledge and understanding of the world around them and to develop skills associated with science as a process of enquiry and investigation. Our science curriculum develops the natural curiosity of the child to learn about their world, encourage respect for living organisms and the physical environment and provide opportunities to critically evaluate scientific evidence. Our science curriculum has been designed to provide a progression of knowledge and skills across the whole of the primary school to ensure that children are continuously developing as young scientists and developing a passion for the subject.
