School History

Holymead Primary School came into existence in 2012 following the amalgamation of Holymead Infant School and Holymead Junior School. Our first Headteacher was Ms Kathryn Slatcher who had been the Headteacher at the Infant School for several years.

Our site on Wick Road was built in 1905 and was originally Wick Road Infant School and Wick Road Junior School. Mr Mark Hoskins, one of our former teachers, wrote a history of the Wick Road to celebrate its centenary in 2005. We have several copies in school if you are ever interested in borrowing one.

At present, we have 21 classes in total. They are all named after animals with the first letter representing the year groups e.g. Reception Classes all begin with the letter 'R', Year 6 Classes all begin with the letter 'S'.
